After several releases on XX LAB including CEO, Straight Edge Society and The Skin Between Us, François X returns with Bound States a four techno track EP shaped by years of immersion in club culture, sound systems and electronic music history.
Described by François X as “a series of states, fully formed, fully lived, where years of immersion have dissolved into instinct,” the record moves away from overt conceptual transformation and settles into something more immediate: presence, pressure and emotional clarity through sound.
At its core lies the warmth and soul of Black American dance music alongside the cold physicality of European club architecture. Within this tension, Bound States unfolds through dense grooves, hypnotic repetition and restrained melodic movement.
From the warm tension of Bones & Harmony to the rolling hypnosis of Bound State, the emotional weight of Just A Feeling and the direct physical impact of Type X, the EP captures François X at his most distilled and instinctive.
The artwork directly references the visual language of XX LAB’s 2022 Digital Fever EP, extending the label’s ongoing exploration of music, symbolism and identity.
